Join us for an exclusive evening of song and spoken word exploring hidden stories of amorous yearning entwined with the most celebrated Russian opera of all time, Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.
Working closely with soprano Iúnó Connolly and pianist Pavel Timofeyevsky, writer Rosamund Bartlett has curated a sumptuous programme to illuminate a fascinating chapter of 19th-century Russian cultural history which combines Tchaikovsky's music with excerpts from heartfelt letters and revealing memoirs.
The venue for this evening has been made available to us by very kind permission of Angus & Libby Gibson.
Please note that parking will not be available at the venue but located instead at the Wardour Chapel car park; the Guildhall is then accessible by foot, (around a 7 minute walk). For those unable to walk longer distances, please contact us to make a prior alternative arrangement.

Rosamund Bartlett | Writer
A cultural historian with a background in Russian literature, music and art, Rosamund Bartlett is the author of many books, including Wagner and Russia and biographies of Tolstoy and Chekhov. Her acclaimed translations of Chekhov's short stories and Tolstoy's Anna Karenina have been published by Oxford World's Classics. She has written, lectured and broadcast widely on Tchaikovsky, including for the Royal Opera House and BBC Radio 3.

Pavel Timofeyevsky | Piano
Virtuoso pianist, composer for film and the concert stage, arranger and lecturer, Pavel Timofeyevsky has received numerous prizes and accolades, including the BBC/Guardian Young Composer of the Year award. Pavel has appeared at nearly all the major concert venues across the UK. Concert tours, along with television and radio appearances in other parts of the world include the USA, China, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Russia, Latvia, Greece, Cyprus and India.
Pavel is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of NOTABLE - a storytelling concert series in Chelsea, London and an Opera Festival in St Maxime, Côte D’Azure. He is also the co-founder of Philomel Creative Circle - a concert series in residence at the Francis Crick Institute and St Cuthbert’s Church in Earl’s Court. In 2023 Pavel was appointed Music Director of Devon Opera.
