Join us for an evening of Russian songs, arias and spoken word surrounding the history behind possibly the most celebrated Russian opera of all time, Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.
Soprano Iúnó Connolly, pianist Pavel Timofeyevsky and writer historian Rosamund Bartlett have curated a sumptuous evening of sound and history and look forward to welcoming you at the Guildhall in Wardour, by kind permission of Angus & Libby Gibson.
Please note that parking will not be available at the venue but located instead at the Wardour Chapel car park; the Guildhall is then accessible by foot, (around a 6 minute walk).

Rosamund Bartlett | Writer
Rosamund Bartlett is a writer, translator and lecturer. A cultural historian with a background in Russian literature, music and art, her books include Wagner and Russia and Tolstoy: A Russian Life. She has also written a biography of Chekhov, and published translations of his short stories and letters. Her new translation of Anna Karenina was published in 2014.
Her current interests focus on Russian and European Modernism, opera, and the intersection between politics, history and the arts. She has lectured on these and other topics, including Tchaikovsky, Chekhov and Levitan, Matisse in Moscow, Kandinsky and The Blue Rider, and Modernist women artists, both in the UK and abroad.

Pavel Timofeyevsky | Piano
Virtuoso pianist, composer for film and the concert stage, arranger and lecturer, Pavel Timofeyevsky has received numerous prizes and accolades, including the BBC/Guardian Young Composer of the Year award. Pavel has appeared at nearly all the major concert venues across the UK. Concert tours, along with television and radio appearances in other parts of the world include the USA, China, Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Russia, Latvia, Greece, Cyprus and India.
Pavel is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of NOTABLE - a storytelling concert series in Chelsea, London and an Opera Festival in St Maxime, Côte D’Azure. He is also the co-founder of Philomel Creative Circle - a concert series in residence at the Francis Crick Institute and St Cuthbert’s Church in Earl’s Court. In 2023 Pavel was appointed Music Director of Devon Opera.
